Gary E. Barnhart President of BARNHART LAW OFFICE, LTD., Canton, Illinois.
He was graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Washington University School of Law, St. Louis, Missouri in 1973. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, before the Federal Courts, before the United States Supreme Court and before the U.S. Tax Court. He was a principal in the firm of Claudon, Kost, Barnhart, Beal & Walters, Ltd. from 1973 until March of 2008 when he left that firm to start his own firm, Barnhart Law Office, Ltd. He currently has a general practice with an Associate Attorney. He is a member of the Fulton County Bar Association serving as its President in 1980, the Illinois State Bar Association, a Charter Member of the Electric Cooperative Bar Association and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General of the State of Illinois for some 24 years being assigned to the Illinois Department of Transportation in Districts 4 and 6 and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in connection with condemnation matters. In addition to his Estate Planning and Special Needs practice, he represents various Illinois Electric Cooperatives. He is the author of “A Condemnation Primer”, 2004, for the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperative Attorneys.
